Putin to award Lukashenko Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called

On October 9th, Russian leader Vladimir Putin will solemnly present his Belarusian counterpart Aleksandr Lukashenko with Russia’s highest state award: the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. The ceremony will be preceded by bilateral talks – as noted by Aide to the Russian President Yury Ushakov, BelTA reports with reference to TASS.

“In the context of the summit held in Moscow, on October 9th, President Putin will meet with Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko, who will extend his stay in Moscow. This will be the eighth meeting of the two countries’ leaders since early 2024,” Mr. Ushakov said.

According to the Aide to the Russian President, ‘after the conversation – bilateral talks – a solemn ceremony of awarding Aleksandr Lukashenko the highest state award of Russia, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called, will take place in the St. Andrew Hall in the Grand Kremlin Palace’. The Belarusian leader has been ‘awarded for outstanding achievements in developing the allied relationship and strategic partnership’, strengthening friendly ties between fraternal peoples, as well as his personal contribution to the effective functioning of the Union State.

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived today in Russia on a working visit. It is planned that on October 8th, the Belarusian leader will take part in the CIS Council of Heads meeting in Moscow.
