China’s President underlined comprehensively advancing high-quality Belt and Road co-operation

President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping emphasised the comprehensively advancing high-quality co-operation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) during a symposium dedicated to this initiative, sb.by reports citing the Telegram channel of the Chinese Embassy in Belarus

According to the Chinese President, it is necessary to strengthen strategic confidence, maintain strategic focus and act courageously with a sense of responsibility to create an even brighter future for Belt and Road co-operation.

Xi Jinping noted that since the initiative was launched in 2013, significant progress has been achieved in Belt and Road co-operation, which contributed to enhancing China’s friendship with the participating countries and promoting their socio-economic development.

The Chinese leader added that in recent years, the world has entered a new period of turbulence and fundamental transformations. In this regard, he urged efforts to appropriately manage all types of risks and challenges and effectively address the impact of geopolitical conflicts while advancing high-quality Belt and Road co-operation.

It is noted that China has so far signed BRI co-operation documents with more than 150 countries and over 30 international organisations. According to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, as of late 2023, Chinese companies have established 17,000 overseas enterprises in the Belt and Road member states, with direct investment exceeding $330bn and overseas trade-economic co-operation zones – build under the initiative – creating 530,000 local jobs.

During the symposium, the Chinese President said that Belt and Road co-operation has entered a new stage of high-quality development. Xi Jinping called for perseverance to turn blueprints into reality and courage to overcome all kinds of risks and challenges.
