CEC: first meeting of Belarusian People’s Congress of seventh convocation to be held on April 24th-25th in Minsk
On April 16th, at its session, the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus announced the decision to hold the first meeting of the Belarusian People’s Congress of the seventh convocation on April 24th-25th in Minsk
“Convening and organising a meeting of more than a thousand people requires enormous efforts: inviting delegates, transport logistics, organising access control, forming the agenda, preparing documents necessary for work, arranging places for secret voting, which is provided by law for the election of the Chairman of the Belarusian People’s Congress, the Presidium, and much more. All this requires advance and thorough preparation. Therefore, it is no secret that before setting a date for the meeting of the Belarusian People’s Congress, consultations were held with all interested state bodies,” Chairman of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko stressed.
Mr. Karpenko noted that a republican organising committee, headed by the Prime Minister, was set up to prepare the meeting of the Belarusian People’s Congress. In addition, several meetings were held with the Head of State. On April 16th, the Central Election Commission of Belarus set by its resolution the date of convening the first meeting of the Belarusian People’s Congress, as required by law.
