By late 2022, the share of Chinese car sales to exceed 20% in Belarus

Any crisis is a problem for some and an opportunity for others. Sergei Varivoda, a member of the Board of the Belarusian Automobile Association, comments of prospects of Chinese car brands in the Belarusian market.

The expert believes a statement that Chinese cars will flood the Belarusian market is a common myth so far. “Why these should be Chinese, and not Korean, for example, that are more popular? Time will show. A significant increase in the share of Chinese brands in the coming years had been predicted by analysts even before the sanctions were imposed. Therefore, by the end of the year, the share of Chinese brands in the sales of Belarusian car dealers will exceed 20 percent, though I would not rather reckon on an explosive growth,” Mr. Varivoda said.
