Buzin on the problems that were revealed during elections in Poland

A number of controversial events that were registered during the elections in Poland show all the imperfections of the system – as noted by the Assistant to the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Military Sciences, Prof. Nikolai Buzin, in his talk with ONT TV channel

Buzin listed the contradictions that were registered during the elections in Poland, “Firstly, about paradoxes: a person who came to vote was given a completed ballot at a polling station. The second point is very interesting and refers to the use of state resources in the interests of one of the parties of the election process. This is being talked about all the time.”

The expert noted that this goes against the principles of democracy, but this is the reality. Over the course of three years, the Law and Justice party usurped Poland’s electoral system, “At first, changes were made to the electoral legislation during this period, and one of the innovations is very interesting, prohibiting mail-in voting in these elections, what is accepted in the US and in a range of other countries. This is a rather problematic system for Poland, because more than a million citizens who have the right to vote are outside the state. And they could have used their right. As a rule, all these citizens located in other states vote for the opposition. That is, this part of the voters is immediately partially cut off or difficulties are created for them in expressing their will, which is what happened.”

The second point is that the forms of voting regions have undergone changes. Buzin noted, “They cut it differently, not like it was before. Why? Today’s party in power is mainly supported by the rural population while urban residents are mainly against it. And in this way they redrew the map of polling stations in order to somehow include more of the rural population. It’s done, and this mechanism is used!”

The third factor, according to the expert, is empty election promises and buying votes, “On the eve of the elections, a powerful campaign was carried out and various payments were offered to various segments of the population from today’s leading party, the party in power. This applies to pensioners, families with many children, students and other categories who, to some extent, could support the current government.”
