BSMU and South Kazakhstan Medical Academy signed co-operation agreement

The Belarusian State Medical University (BSMU) and the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy officially became partners after signing a co-operation agreement, the university press service informed

“BSMU Rector Sergei Rubnikovich signed the agreement alongside Gulzhan Dysibaeva, Head of General Practitioner Department 2, who represented the Academy,” said BSMU press secretary Oksana Kurbeko.

The agreement covers a long-term partnership between the parties in the areas of education, research, culture and public awareness in all medical fields both universities operate in, explained Mr. Rubnikovich after the official signing ceremony was over.

“We are going to partner in healthcare education, namely curriculums pertaining to general medicine, paediatrics, dentistry, prevention, and pharmaceutics,” he said.

The BSMU and the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy intend to set up teacher exchanges for applied research, internship, advanced training, joint studies, etc. Student exchanges focused on education, applied science, culture, sports, and other events are also planned.

Both sides will be involved in the partner university’s academic process; that means lessons, workshops, training sessions and master classes for students and teachers, along with joint applied research and education conferences, workshops, congresses, research projects, and partnership programmes in education and medicine.

The agreement envisions exchanges of education technologies and teaching methods, teachers’ experience and data, as well as joint research and education programmes' development and implementation. The parties also expressed their intention to exchange publications on academic and research issues, publish joint research, textbooks and treatises on topical issues in the fields of education and medicine.

According to the press service, the number of foreign universities the BSMU is now partnering with exceeds 150.

Founded in 1979 and based in Shymkent city, the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy is one of the topmost medical universities in Kazakhstan. Its faculties include those of medicine, pharmacy, continuous professional development, an international faculty, a nursing school, a military department, a dean's office of internship and employment of graduates, a dean’s office of residency, and a department of scientific and clinical work, PhD doctoral and master's programmes. Over 4,700 students, including 600 foreign ones, are currently studying at the academy.
