Britain closed its last coal-fired power plant
The United Kingdom announced the closure of the country's last coal-fired thermal power plant in Ratcliffe-on-Sea, TASS reports with reference to The Financial Times
It is reported that ‘the UK is set to be the first G7 country to stop using coal to generate electricity’.
Germany plans to do the same by 2038, Canada – by 2030, and Italy (excluding the island of Sardinia) – by the end of 2025.
According to media reports, the closure of the last coal-fired power plant has become a key step in decarbonising electricity in the kingdom by 2030.
