Britain approved bill to phase out smoking
On April 17th, British parliamentarians voted in favour of a bill that will eventually make the sale of tobacco products in the UK completely illegal, TASS reports
It is noted that in the first reading, 383 deputies supported the bill to ban tobacco and vaping, 67 people voted against it, and almost 200 abstained.
It is reported that the bill assumes that in the UK, the age of those who can consume tobacco products will be raised annually by a year. Thus, children and teenagers born after January 1st, 2009, will forever lose the opportunity to legally buy cigarettes, pipe tobacco, and vape in Britain.
It is also clarified that, although the ban has a long-term perspective, it is one of the strictest in the world.
British Health Secretary Victoria Atkins stated that tobacco is extremely bad for health, so the country decided to take this ‘unprecedented step to protect the next generation’.
