Brazilian journalist: NATO tries to derail new world order
Lucas Leiros (Brazil), a journalist specialising in foreign affairs and geopolitics of military conflicts, talked to Belarus 1 TV channel about the ways NATO uses to derail emergence of the new world order
In practice, countries like Ukraine that’s not even a NATO member, or small nations like the Baltic States or Poland, have no real sovereignty, Mr. Leiros explained.
“They simply can’t do what they’d really like to do; they have to act as NATO instructs them. So the problem is that the alliance pushes anti-Russian and anti-Belarusian sentiment on them, and that Russophobia, aimed not only against Russia, but also against all Russian speakers in the world, became a global issue. That’s why they brainwash the population to make them really believe they have to fight against the Russian and Belarusian threat. The situation in Ukraine is an example. For 8 years, they have fantasised and brainwashed young Ukrainians to form the neo-Nazi battalions and start trouble in the Donbas. Now they try to do the same in the Baltics and in Poland, or in other ex-USSR countries, trying to use their Soviet history as a pretext to foster historical revanchism, make people resentful of their own past,” he said.
This is fascism under a guise of democracy, the expert stated, adding that, “They call Russia and Belarus undemocratic while proclaiming themselves true democracies. They were even able to use these vestiges to fight against undemocratic countries, that’s why nations like Poland, the Baltics, or Ukraine got even more convinced they have no other option but to fight that war. Right now, for instance, there are real deportations. They are deporting Russian speakers from the Baltic States, the move that would be considered equal to the Apartheid or the Russian policies in any other country, but if they are NATO, then that’s okay, go ahead. And the alliance makes them do that scorched earth policy, creating tensions, conflicts, security threats along the entire Russian and Belarusian border”.
The Brazilian expert believes that NATO’s predominant purpose is to make the multipolar world idea unfeasible.
“If there are conflicts, wars, then those countries are going to be busy with their own security issues. They wouldn’t have the diplomatic space for negotiations or reforms. That’s why I think they [NATO] are going to drag out the Ukrainian war until they really run out of Ukrainians, because their real purpose is to avoid partnering with the new powers and to derail emergence of the new world order by any means necessary,” he said.
