BelNPP CEO: Belarus actively liaising with international organisations in nuclear safety

Belarus is actively co-operating with international organisations in order to ensure reliable and safe operation of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) – as stated by BelNPP Director General Sergei Bobovich during a general meeting of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO), held in Abu Dhabi (UAE), sb.by reports with reference to the BelNPP press service

The head of the Belarusian enterprise informed the participants of the meeting about the history of the construction and commissioning of the Belarusian NPP, noting the outstanding role of Belarus’ President in the implementation of the project. Sergei Bobovich stressed that the Russian 3+ generation AES-2006 project – implemented in our country by the Rosatom State Corporation – meets the most modern standards of reliability and safety.

The BelNPP CEO also dwelled in detail on the personnel training system, speaking about the areas of study within the framework of the state training programme for Belarus’ nuclear energy, co-operation with leading specialised universities in Belarus and Russia, as well as staff training at the BelNPP training centre and the enterprise’s structural divisions.

Sergei Bobovich said that throughout the entire period of the nuclear power plant construction project, Belarus has been actively liaising in the field of nuclear energy with more than twenty countries and international organisations, primarily with IAEA and WANO.

“Co-operation with international organisations such as WANO enables the BelNPP to expand its capabilities for reliable and safe operation of a nuclear power plant and for the creation of an improved nuclear energy infrastructure to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. We believe that nuclear energy is a bright and safe future for the next generations,” the BelNPP CEO summed up.
