Belarusian athlete Boki won 2nd gold at Madeira 2024 Para Swimming European Open Championships
The Madeira 2024 Para Swimming European Open Championships among athletes with visual and mobility impairments continue in Funchal, Portugal, BelTA reports
On the third day of the competitions, swimmers played 21 sets of awards, and Belarusian athletes took part in three finals of the evening programme. 16-time Paralympic champion Belarusian Ihar Boki won a convincing victory in the 100m freestyle S13. It was his second gold after he successfully performed in the 100m butterfly S13. Also on April 23rd, Belarusian Anastasiya Rasolka finished fifth in the 100m freestyle S13, and Yahor Shchalkanau was seventh in the 100m butterfly S9.
Thus, by now the Belarusian national team has three medals of the continental forum – two golds (Ihar Boki) and a bronze (Maksim Vashkevich, 100m backstroke S12). On April 22nd, our athletes also claimed awards, but Dzmitry Salei (100m butterfly S12) and Yahor Shchalkanau (200m individual medley SM9) stopped a step away from the podium, and Yauheni Kavalionak and Anastasiya Zudzilava took sixth place in the decisive swimming races of the 100m breaststroke SB13. On April 24th, 18 finals will be held at the Madeira 2024 Para Swimming European Open Championships.
