The National Assembly of Belarus has been participating in the ASEAN IPA general assemblies on a regular basis since 2011 as an observer. This year’s assembly is held under the theme Advancing Together for Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient ASEAN.

Valery Mitskevich will make today a report at the AIPA plenary session. The programme of the visit also envisages a number of bilateral meetings with the heads of parliamentary delegations of the ASEAN member states, at which it is planned to discuss issues of enhancing co-operation with the countries of Southeast Asia across various fields.

Earlier, on the sidelines of the event, Valery Mitskevich had a protocol meeting with President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia Heng Samrin. The meeting continued the inter-parliamentary dialogue that began in June 2012 with a visit to Belarus by the President of the National Assembly of Cambodia and a return visit to Cambodia of the Belarusian parliamentary delegation, headed by Speaker Vladimir Andreichenko in February 2013, during which a co-operative agreement was signed between the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
