Belarus Segodnya Publishing House Chief: Belarus’ evolution reflected in President's New Year addresses

In the last minutes of the year, millions of Belarusians are waiting for a traditional greeting from the President. The New Year celebration is a good reason to unite the nation on the basis of common values. In his talk with the ONT TV channel, Dmitry Zhuk, the Director – Editor-in-Chief of the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House, told what he had singled out for himself from the New Year's address of the Head of State.

Dmitry Zhuk noted that the President has been coming to the homes of Belarusians for many years as a kindred soul, telling them what they want to hear, what they care about.
“People are concerned about ordinary things, problems. They want good wishes and – most importantly – confidence in the future. The evolution of Belarus, its development and formation, and then its strengthening are reflected in the President’s annual addresses, and this refers to the economy, the political system, and social guarantees. However, one constant remains unchangeable in all speeches of the Head of State: the interests of an ordinary person, his needs and problems. Actually, with each new message it’s impossible not to notice that – some time in the past – we were told of the need to be taken away from the abyss and to find enough food for all – but we have heard about delicious and healthy products this year. This is a huge difference in the quality of life, and we can find plenty of such examples: i.e. the development of healthcare, the economy, the promotion of our enterprises and the creation of new industries,” Mr. Zhuk said.

The Belarus Segodnya Publishing House Chief noted that this year’s address of the Head of State was distinguished by kindness, wisdom and family spirit. At the same time, the vector of where to move was clearly defined, ‘and it was not far-fetched’, as Mr. Zhuk said. “The President said that quality – which is actually our brand and tradition – is becoming a symbol from now on. Maybe it's good that, along with the auroch and partisan Belarus, the concept of a quality-assured, comfortable life will appear. For life to be like this, it is necessary to do our job well and think about those who are around. We will feel the comfort and quality that we have always aspired to when our relations – official, friendly, on the street and at school – experience this mutual penetration. We have the main condition for this – thanks to the President, the state system of power: it is the peaceful sky overhead.”
