Belarus Segodnya Editor-in-Chief: Belarus’ attention and priorities remain focused on achieving SDGs
Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) remains at the centre of Belarus’ attention and priorities – as noted by Dmitry Zhuk, the Deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic, Director – Editor-in-Chief of the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House, during the opening of the session Digital Development of Belarus: Status Quo and Prospects
“Belarus’ attention and priorities remain focused on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and the 30th place of Belarus in the SDG Index testifies to the fact that the quality and standard of living of our citizens will always be at the centre of attention of our Government and the state,” Mr. Zhuk emphasised.
He separately underlined that one of the goals, No. 9, concerns the creation of a stable infrastructure. In turn, one of its sub-goals was to significantly increase access to information and communications technology and provide universal and affordable access to the Internet.
“We already have certain programmes and achievements in our state. But the most important thing is that these technologies should be brought down to the level of everyday life for our citizens, helping them solve those issues that arise before them. In addition, digital technologies are an opportunity to reduce the gap between the regions and the centre, to make the life of our citizens more comfortable with the help of smart solutions,” Mr. Zhuk summed up.
