Belarus Segodnya columnist: thanks to Lukashenko's efforts, interest in Belarus doubled around the world
The visits of Belarus’ President, Aleksandr Lukashenko, to Equatorial Guinea and Kenya open a qualitatively new stage of co-operation between Belarus and the countries of the African continent. The republic is ready to provide assistance and support to partners from Africa in gaining political and economic independence. In his talk with Alfa Radio, Andrei Mukovozchik, a columnist for the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House, explained how the Belarusian President is building a multipolar world.
As Mr. Mukovozchik noted, no one in the world wants to further live under the Anglo-Saxons’ rule, “Thanks to the efforts of our Head of State, an increased interest is being demonstrated towards Belarus now. It was present in the past as well, but it has virtually doubled in recent times. The President is building a situation with the formation of another pole of power. We now live in a unipolar world, with one pole of power – the United States, and all the others are somehow grouped around it. The world is already clearly moving towards at least bipolarity, and maybe even multipolarity. In any case, people no longer want one pole – and this can be said not only of us: Europeans, Asians, Africans and Latin Americans also do not want it. No one wants it, except Anglo-Saxons who need to preserve their position as the rulers of the world – as they do not hesitate to call themselves – by any means.”
As noted by Mr. Mukovozchik, there will definitely be another, and maybe more, poles of power in the process of reformatting the world, “Our President's efforts are focused on ensuring that Belarus is near these future poles of power. Actually, the situation is like this: those are late who did not make it in time. Those who are not around at the time of the formation of this pole will later have to spend much time to make their way to the decision-making centres. Accordingly, Belarus – as a country with limited resources – needs to take its place in advance, so as not to get involved later; after all, such behaviour is not in the Belarusians’ mentality and rules. We can draw attention to ourselves and become useful before being asked of the reasons for such actions. The Head of State is trying to establish contacts with the whole world and provide Belarus with a geopolitical position much more advantageous than its geographical location envisages.”
The columnist also expressed hope that Belarus will build relations with Latin America in the future, “Well, Venezuela and Nicaragua are our very good friends. It would be also great to keep in touch with someone from Brazil or the future Argentina (it will not work with the current one). It will be difficult to deal with the man who comes to the presidency and first of all declares: ‘There is no money – just as I said’.”
