Belarus Segodnya columnist: Poland will continue militarisation after parliamentary elections

Poland continues to pursue an aggressive policy towards Belarus and actively militarise itself. Against this situation, the opinions of experts split: some say that everything will end after the parliamentary elections in Poland, and others disagree with this view. A columnist of the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House, Andrei Mukovozchik, commented on the topic in his talk with Alfa Radio.

“I would simply dismiss the experts who believe that this is an exclusively pre-election PR campaign; these people definitely need to do some simple work instead,” Mr. Mukovozchik said. “The point is that – if the task has been set to increase the Polish army to 300 thousand, if funds have been allocated for this purpose, if the budget has been planned and logistics have been worked out – bases and barracks need to be built. This is a very difficult and planned work, and it will in no case stop after the elections. The plan has been outlined, and Poland is being done to match it. Poland wants to become like that. Poland seeks to become a European leader with the help of the United States, having kicked Germany out of this place. French President Emmanuel Macron has gone quiet because he does not understand how to behave. He has nothing more to talk about with the ‘offended liver sausage’ [Scholz], since this may deteriorate his position. Germany is losing its leading role within the European Union, and this is an obvious fact. Poland has long been pushed by the United States, which directly and through South Korea is pumping money there, to become a replacement for Germany – not economically, but ideologically and militarily. This is the plan, and the budget has been prepared for it. A lot of forces and funds have been collected with it in mind.”

According to Mr. Mukovozchik, the use of this topic in the election campaign in Poland is logical. However, even after the elections, process will not stop – though the fuzz around all this will subside.

“Some political forces shout that it is not necessary, others – that it is not. Actually, this a foam, and it will disappear after the elections. Meanwhile, the doubling of the army and pumping it with new American and South Korean weapons, which Ukraine will not get, will continue. That is why our tactical nuclear weapons are well-placed. We have warned, we are ready, and we are calmly waiting for the events to develop. In turn, they still have to get prepared. They actually cannot stop or roll this process back. Processes of the kind tend to be self-sustaining. The more troops you have, the more real tasks they require, the more pressure you experience – [with a suggestion] to unleash some kind of border conflict. [This conflict] may be not only with Belarus. What about Middle Lithuania? Western Ukraine? Some lands in the Czech Republic or Germany? Poland has a lot of plans," the expert summed up.
