Belarus’ PM on results of his visit to Latin America: tasks complete

The purpose of the official visit of the Belarusian delegation to Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua was to open new pages in the annals of co-operation with them – as stated by Belarus’ Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko after his visit, BelTA reports

“However, we do not rush anywhere; rather we work thoughtfully and systematically, building our relations primarily with those countries with which we have developed a joint history. Somewhere it is more successful, and somewhere there are problems that need to be settled. Therefore, the purpose of our long visit to the countries of South and Central America is very simple and consists in fulfilling the task set by the President: to actually open new pages in our annals of co-operation with these states,” the PM said.

Roman Golovchenko explained that the current situation in the world is difficult, which also affects Belarus’ partners. “Therefore, we had an appropriate plan or task for each country that we had to tackle. Today, summing up, I can probably say as the head of the delegation that these tasks have been complete, i.e., we have achieved what we wanted,” he added.

The official visit of Belarus’ PM to Latin American countries ended on July 20th. Roman Golovchenko has visited Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, where co-operation agreements were reached. In particular, Belarus and Venezuela have outlined steps to restart joint projects in industry and other areas. Agreements on the supply of tractors, milk powder, and interaction in the field of pharmaceuticals have been reached with Cuba, while contracts have been signed in Nicaragua for the supply of over 700 units of equipment – worth $85m.
