Belarus, Oman focus on political, trade and economic liaisons
On October 12th, Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Aleinik, took part in the Second Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Friends in Defence of the UN Charter held in Serbian Belgrade on the margins of the high-level meeting to mark the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement – as informed by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s press service
The Deputy Foreign Minister emphasised the relevance of states' compliance with the principles and objectives of the UN Charter which is a cornerstone document in the architecture of international law. Mr. Aleinik stressed the need for joint efforts to counter unilateral coercive measures that pose a threat to sustainable development of states and their sovereignty and security.
The Group of Friends members adopted a political declaration to confirm their joint efforts aimed at protecting the goals and principles enshrined in the UN Charter.
On meeting the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs of Oman, Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa al-Harthy, the sides discussed development of political, trade and economic co-operation. Special attention was paid to enhancement of bilateral contacts and organisation of visits at various levels. There was also an exchange of views on topical issues on the international agenda.
In addition, expansion of liaisons and mutual support on multilateral platforms were discussed at the meeting with the Senior Political Advisor to the President of Eritrea – Yamane Ghebreab, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation – Ahmed Alsaati.
