Belarus’ market of new cars increased by 255% in May 2023

In May 2023, the Belarusian market of new cars showed a significant increase – growing by 255 percent (or 1,184 units) against May 2022, the press service of the BAA Automobile Association reports

In May, sales made 1,649 cars, and an explosive growth in the share of Chinese manufacturers was among the emerging trends: they accounted for about 80 percent of new car sales. The Belarusian-Chinese Geely brand – which cars are assembled in Belarus – enjoyed the greatest popularity.

According to BAA, new Chinese brands are expected to join the Belarusian market in the coming months. They will represent various, including premium, segments, so customers will enjoy a wide choice.

In May, the total number of passenger models presented on the Belarusian market increased to 45 (against 35 at the beginning of the year). This trend should have a positive effect on the saturation of the domestic car market.
