Belarus, IOM eager to continue co-operation
Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister, Yuri Ambrazevich, held a meeting with the representative of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Belarus, Mahym Orazmuhammedova – as informed by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s press service
As reported, the sides discussed practical co-operation between Belarus and IOM on issues within the competence of the organisation.
Mr. Ambrazevich noted a significant contribution of the IOM to support Belarus' efforts to resolve the situation with refugees and migrants on the Belarusian-Polish border in 2021. The Belarusian diplomat expressed hope for continued co-operation with IOM on reception of refugees from Ukraine.
In turn, Ms. Orazmuhammedova assured of IOM's desire to support Belarus within its mandate in resolving migration situations, including emergencies. She also confirmed readiness to participate in joint efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian refugees.
