Belarus' intention to join BRICS discussed at Brazilian Foreign Ministry

“The Belarusian diplomatic mission head informed on Belarus’ intention to become a full member of BRICS. The parties noted significant prospects for the development of bilateral trade relations after Belarus' accession to the organisation,” the Belarusian diplomatic mission informed.

Earlier, Belarus’ Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik stated that Belarus is working on the issue of joining the BRICS format. The diplomat positively assessed the beginning of Belarus' accession to the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation. According to him, the speedy registration of full-scale membership is another important task for this year.

“Let's not forget about other formats that are relatively new to us. I'm talking about active work in preparation for the upcoming Russia-Africa forum and working on the issue of joining the BRICS format,” Mr. Aleinik said.
