Belarus’ gold and foreign currency reserves stood at $8.442bn as of May 1st
According to preliminary data, Belarus’ international reserve assets amounted to $8,441.5m in equivalent as of May 1st, 2024, sb.by reports with reference to the National Bank’s website
It is noted that in April 2024, the country’s gold and foreign currency reserves rose by $89m (up 1.06 percent) after an increase of $133.9m (1.6 percent) a month earlier.
According to BelTA, largest share in the structure of Belarus’ international reserve assets is held by assets in foreign currency and monetary gold. The volume of foreign currency in reserves as of May 1st, 2024, amounted to $3,070.7m – a drop of $67.8m (2.16 percent) over April, while the volume of monetary gold made up $4,003.8m, having increased by $160m (or 4.16 percent).
In line with the main guidelines of the country’s monetary policy, Belarus’ international reserve assets should total at least $6bn by late 2024.
