Belarus’ Deputy PM: New Year’s charity campaign – Our Children – starts on December 16th in Vitebsk

Our Children – a New Year’s charity campaign held under the President’s patronage – will take place from December 16th, 2024, to January 15th, 2025, while the charity event for senior citizens – From Heart’s Bottom – will be organised from December 26th to January 15th, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko noted

“As is traditional, on the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays, the Our Children campaign has been held for more than three decades on the initiative of our President. Three years ago, the Head of State initiated a new campaign: From Heart’s Bottom which was warmly accepted by our citizens and received a positive response in our society. The purpose of these actions is to draw attention to people who need help, take care of them and give New Year and Christmas gifts,” Mr. Petrishenko said.

He informed that last year the activities of the Our Children campaign covered more than a million children. About Br6.5m was allocated to provide financial assistance, purchase necessary equipment and gifts for institutions and families raising children.

“We also held a charity marathon to raise over Br100,000 – to be directed to the Republican Scientific and Practical Centre of Paediatric Oncology, Haematology and Immunology for the treatment of seriously ill children,” the Deputy PM said.

According to him, this year’s campaign will start in Vitebsk on December 16th with the active participation of other regions.

“As is traditional, the main event of the Our Children campaign will be a charity New Year’s holiday for children with the President’s participation at the Palace of the Republic, with more than two thousand children from all over the country to be invited. In addition, the Palace of Independence will host a New Year’s ball for young people, where various ballroom traditions will be intertwined. An interactive New Year’s Eve performance for children is also planned,” Mr. Petrishenko explained.

Festive events for children will be held across all regions, regional and district centres, involving officials and representatives of public organisations.

This year’s charity event for senior citizens – From Heart’s Bottom – will be held from December 26th, 2024, to January 15th, 2025.

“Last year, the campaign provided care and attention to more than 330,000 of our senior citizens – twice the level we started with,” the official said. “I am sure that the scale of the upcoming campaign will be even more impressive.”

The Deputy PM urged all concerned citizens and public associations to take part in the activities and the charity marathon to raise funds to help the most vulnerable categories of children.
