A meeting of the Council of CIS Defence Ministers has taken place in Moscow today, and its participants discussed the development and improvement of national segments that are the basic elements of joint military systems, as well as other aspects of multilateral military co-operation. Special attention was paid to the joint research work of the CIS defence sectors.

When discussing the upcoming celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Belarus’ Defence Minister Viktor Khrenin thanked all the heads of military departments of the CIS member states for participating in events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus in Minsk. "I am sure that the joint celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory will become our common response to attempts to distort history," he stressed.

Following the meeting, the draft concept of CIS military co-operation until 2030 was agreed upon, and the work plan of the Council of CIS Defence Ministers for 2025 was approved.
