Belarus’ Culture Minister proposed to expand geography of national culture days at Baku forum
Speaking at a meeting of ministers as part of the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue – themed Dialogue for Peace and Global Security: Co-operation and Interconnectivity – Belarus’ Culture Minister Anatoly Markevich proposed to expand the geography of exchange days of national cultures, BelTA reports with reference to the Culture Ministry’s press service
According to Anatoly Markevich, the exchange days of national cultures represent a unique form of creative exchange, thanks to which it is possible to show different facets of art and lay the foundation for interaction for years to come.
He noted that in 2023, Belarus’ Culture Ministry and cultural organisations signed over 650 co-operation agreements with colleagues on different continents, while the relations with Russia, China, India, members and the CIS ad SCO are developing most actively.
According to the official, international cultural events are viewed as bridges between nations, enabling people to find new friends and go to visit them.
Mr. Markevich recalled that recently another solid bridge was built between Belarus and Azerbaijan due to the Belarusian Culture Days in Baku.
The Culture Minister also highlighted co-operation as part of the Union State, naming such projects as the Belarusian-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Creativity of the Young festival, as well as Together We Can Do More festival of disabled artists and the Train of Memory youth patriotic project.
Anatoly Markevich views the festivals held in Belarus – attracting many foreign guests – as an effective form of intercultural dialogue. Last year, more than 5,000 artists from 30 countries gathered at the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk International Festival of Arts, 28 theatres from Europe and Asia took part in the Belaya Vezha Festival in Brest, and films from 26 countries were screened as part of the Minsk Listapad International Film Festival.
