Belarus, Azerbaijan agreed on environmental co-operation areas
Belarus and Azerbaijan have reached agreement on areas of their environmental co-operation for 2025-2026. Sergei Maslyak and Muxtar Babayev, environment ministers of both countries, signed the relevant action plan on the side-lines of the World Climate Action Summit (COP29) in Baku, sb.by reports citing the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
The parties discussed prospective areas for their climate agenda partnership, emphasising high potential and importance of that field.
The two countries signed an interdepartmental environmental co-operation agreement in 2019; the action plan for its implementation signed in Baku covers areas like minimising the climate change consequences, containing invasive animal and plant species, geological mapping, industrial waste handling (including toxic waste), limitations on plastic production and use, etc.
