Over its history, the event has gained high prestige and become a platform for a serious and meaningful conversation about the development of multifaceted co-operation in Greater Eurasia. Such open communication enjoys special demand in the current conditions, when the world is going through an era of revolutionary transformations and formation of a just world order. The importance of Eurasia is increasing from year to year, and new centres of economic growth are being strengthened. Co-operation between the states of the region is based on the principles of sovereignty, equality, mutual trust and respect.”
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev noted in his opening speech, “This forum will open up new economic prospects and make an important contribution to development of trade and economic exchange. In turn, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Aleksei Overchuk stressed that the holding of the forum in Baku is a signal indicating the transition of the global axial model of East-West development to the North-South model. “In this sense, Russia ceases to be the east of Europe, but it starts to comprehend itself as the north of Eurasia. It is in this vein that a new logic of our development will be built upon. Baku was chosen as the forum venue not accidentally: construction of an international North-South transport corridor is underway in the Caspian Sea.”
On the first day of the forum, sessions devoted to global challenges in the energy sector, issues of energy security in Europe, the role of business in global geopolitics and creation of the economy of co-operation from the Atlantic to the Pacific will take place.
