Rutte: DPRK troops in Ukraine would be a significant escalation in the eyes of NATO

Following his phone conversation with the President of South Korea, the North Atlantic Alliance chief posted on X, “North Korea sending troops to fight alongside Russia in Ukraine would mark a significant escalation.”

Mr. Rutte also noted that they, ‘discussed defence industrial co-operation, and the interconnected security of the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific’.

As the South Korean Presidential Office announced, Seoul will send a mission to share details of the Korean intelligence data with NATO. Mr. Yoon added that the Republic of Korea has no plans to let the situation slide, and that he will take measures to intensify security co-operation between his country, NATO, and Ukraine. Seoul intends to ‘take incremental measures to respond to the developing military co-operation’ between Russia and the DPRK.
