Afghan citizen, severely beaten by Latvian border guards, found in Verkhnedvinsk District
On November 16th, a foreigner, who was severely beaten by Latvian border guards, was found in the Verkhnedvinsk District, sb.by reports with reference to the Investigative Committee’s Telegram channel
The man explained with the help of an interpreter that he is a citizen of Afghanistan. On his way to a European country, he was stopped by Latvian border guards, who took away his mobile phone and money, after which they severally beat the man and forced him to return to Belarus.
An investigative task group was working at the scene. The injured 28-year-old foreigner was provided with medical assistance.
The Verkhnedvinsk District Department of Belarus’ Investigative Committee is conducting an investigation into the incident.
