Activity of Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen discussed with Lukashenko’s participation
The President has discussed today the activity of the Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen with its Chairman, Igor Shunevich, and Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zaitsev
At the beginning of the meeting, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the organisation is not fully public, “It is probably more state than any other structure, since it oversees the most important resource of the state. Let us have a fresh look at the situation there, and what is needed to activate this work. A proposal is being made to study the issue of creating a museum of hunting and fishing. We should also focus on this topic. If no money is asked for [to set it up], then there is no reason for us to be against it.”
Another topic discussed at the meeting dealt with the fight against African swine fever. Experts believe that wild boar acts as the main carrier of this disease, so a more active fight against it is necessary. Aleksandr Lukashenko agreed. “If necessary, hunters should be involved. You know the topic well, and there should be no fear. Based on certain mechanisms, compensation for wild boar could be used, and so on... In general, I want you to outline a set of issues that will need to be resolved,” he addressed those present.
