“Tomb M27 is a large tomb of the Dawenkou culture, covering an area of 17 square metres. Judging by its characteristics, the person buried in it had a high status, presumably could be an ancient monarch," Xinhua news agency reported.

It is also noted that the tomb was discovered on the territory of Shangqiu city. 350 ancient relics were found in it, including items made of jasper and ceramics, the lower jaw of pigs, as well as jewellery made of elephant bone.

The Dawenkou culture is the conventional name of a group of communities that lived in the Neolithic era in the territories of modern provinces of Shandong, Anhui, Henan and Jiangsu in 4100-2600 BC.
