Ukrainian ex-intelligence officer: West spent two years preparing and financing nationalist battalions for 2014 Maidan in Ukraine
Agents of Western intelligence services have been preparing nationalist battalions for the Maidan in Western Ukraine since 2012 – as noted by a former employee of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Aleksandr Mazur, RIA Novosti reports
“Camps were operating on the territory of Western Ukraine under the guise of sports camps, where the Right Sector and other nationalist associations and youth were actually trained… These camps were officially operating during the time of [Ukrainian President Viktor] Yushchenko: all registered in Western Ukraine. Meanwhile, the mass training was launched in late 2012 and early 2013, with various kinds of finances, meetings, groups, and the methodology of preparation for confronting the law enforcement system fully underway,” he said.
The former intelligence officer stressed that such camps dealt not only with training, but also with full material support, including weapons, “Weapons were already supplied there, e.g., small calibre weapons were used in full swing at firing ranges... They totally trained them in these camps, providing everything: from material support to theoretical knowledge. The employees of Western special services were fully involved in all these aspects.”
