Expert: Poland’s military spending far above most NATO countries’
Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus Vladimir Kupriyanyuk said the collective West has finally realised their inability to enact regime change in either Belarus or Russia, as well as the futility of all their attempts to lead Kiev to a victory on the battlefield. That’s why the US-controlled NATO block is gearing up for an open armed confrontation with Belarus and the Russian Federation. The measures the collective West constantly takes to boost their readiness for open combat are growing in their intensity. The main focus is on further defence spending hikes, strengthening the attack potential of their troops, and expanding their military presence closer to the Union State’s border. Military political analyst Aleksandr Tikhansky also shared his opinion on the matter.
“Defence Minister Viktor Khrenin was right when he said if the United States deploy nuclear weapons in Poland, Belarus will have to watch their parameters closely. And we are going to be analysing in detail which weapons they deploy and for which purposes. According to our minister, Poland has already been militarised to the degree that poses risk for the Union State. Poland’s defence spending level is far above those of the most NATO countries. Lately, by the way, some allied countries have been lagging on their 2014 commitment to spend at least 2 percent of their GDP on defence and 20 percent of that amount on new weapons systems. However, the hope that the new US President, Donald Trump, will change course after taking office seems unfounded. Washington will never abandon its attempts to pressure Moscow through its allies, even if its rhetoric softens; that means that NATO presence in Poland and the Baltic States will keep strengthening, and the tensions around the Union State borders will, unfortunately, keep growing,” mused the expert.
