15 beaten refugees with rubber bullet injuries and dog bites found on border with Poland
Belarusian border guards have found 15 beaten foreigners from Syria, Somalia and Algeria near the animal gate in the Polish fence, sb.by reports with a link to the State Border Committee’s Telegram channel
As noted in Belarus’ State Border Committee, the introduction of a buffer zone, the rewriting of laws and the abolition of the right to asylum have legalised violence and bullying by the Polish military against people who seek protection in Western countries. Over the past month alone, Polish security forces have repeatedly thrown beaten, stripped and in need of help refugees into Belarusian territory, two of whom died.
Another similar case occurred on October 29th, with Belarusian border guards finding a group of 15 foreigners from Syria, Somalia and Algeria near the animal gate in the Polish fence. The men said that Polish security forces brutally beat them and set service dogs on them.
Bruises and haematomas remained on the victims’ bodies and limbs, including marks from the use of rubber bullets. Then the people were taken to the border and forced to go into Belarusian territory, after having being sprayed in the eyes with pepper gas.
An investigative task group is working on site.
According to the Investigative Committee, medical assistance has been provided to the refugees.
“The criminal actions of the neighbouring party’s officials are carefully documented. The Grodno District Department of the Investigative Committee will give a principled legal assessment of what happened,” the Investigative Committee reported.
