Yandex: AI won’t replace the profession of journalist
Director for the Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies at Yandex, Aleksandr Krainov, on the sidelines of the Digital Bridge Forum, held in the capital of Kazakhstan, expressed the opinion that AI will not displace the profession of journalist, TASS reports
Krainov is confident that the further development of AI, which will be able to write news articles, will not affect journalistic activities.
“What I would be afraid of here is not AI, but another journalist who will use AI. A journalist – like a representative of any other profession – will be replaced not by AI, but by another person who will use AI,” said a Yandex representative, commenting on the words of journalists that AI has learned to create news reports.
Krainov added that ‘the profession will not go anywhere with the appearance of the tool’.
Previously, The New York Times wrote that Google is testing a tool based on AI that can write news articles. According to media reports, the programme with the working title Genesis can collect information about popular events and create information materials.
The Digital Bridge Forum in Astana presented over 300 IT companies, more than 100 investors, as well as 100 startups from 30 countries, offering about 500 vacancies from regional and foreign IT companies in the field of IT.
