Xi Jinping: Slovakian position on Ukraine ‘balanced’
At the meeting with the Slovakian PM Robert Fico in Beijing, PRC President Xi Jinping praised Bratislava’s balanced approach to the Ukrainian crisis, TASS reports
Xi Jinping reiterated China’s consistent and principled position regarding the crisis and ‘praised Slovakia’s balanced, rational and fair approach’ to it, CCTV informed.
China calls on Slovakia and other countries to join efforts to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, work towards establishing peace and promote negotiations, added the Chinese President.
Earlier, in his interview with the 60 Minutes news show on Rossiya 1 TV channel, PM Fico said that the so-called Victory Plan presented by Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not about settling the conflict peacefully. According to Mr. Fico, instead of hastening negotiations, Kiev wants to deploy nuclear weapons on their territory and asks for long-range weapon supplies to be able to strike deep into Russia.
He also pointed out that Ukraine’s entry into NATO would not guarantee its security. The crisis can only be settled through negotiations between Moscow, Washington, Beijing, and Kiev. The head of Slovakian government confirmed Bratislava’s desire to facilitate that process.
