Wildberries potato variety is ready for testing in Belarus

Telegram channel of Tatyana Kim, founder of the largest Russian online marketplace, published a photo suggesting that the Research and Practical Centre of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Potato, Fruit and Vegetable Growing has prepared a new potato variety, tentatively called Wildberries, for government testing in 2025

“I thought my birthday presents ran out last week, but today, I got a special present from the Republic of Belarus. The Research and Practical Centre of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Potato, Fruit and Vegetable Growing bred and registered a new potato variety they called Wildberries. It’s purple!” wrote Ms. Kim in her message.

The new variety has high yield (at least 50 tonnes per hectare) and high starch content (up to 18.9 percent).

Specifications state Wildberries’ taste and intended usage, “Taste good, crumbling properties moderate. Intended usage: healthy (functional) nutrition.”
