Vital to ensure information security with the launch of digital technologies
This was announced by the Deputy Head of the Operations and Analysis Centre under the President of the Republic of Belarus, Sergei Zhernosek, at the digital forum #GBCregions (Government. Business. Citizens – Regions) in Mogilev
The event brings together heads of state bodies and organisations, regional and district executive committees, as well as representatives of IT companies, banks, businesses and educational institutions.
“Today our society lives in the era of digital transformations, which are gradually introduced and rooted in the spheres of public administration, economic activity and private life. The appearance of biometric identity documents – intended for entry and exit from Belarus – can be an example. Due to this, an interdepartmental information system has been developed, which is the basis of e-government. Moreover, a range of sectoral and departmental projects connected with information and communication technologies have also been implemented,” emphasised Mr. Zhernosek.
Mr. Zhernosek is convinced that one of the important issues that needs to be discussed at the forum is the entry into force of the law On the Protection of Personal Data.
“With the launch of digital technologies, the issue of ensuring information security is acute. In recent time, cases of cyber incidents in the information systems of state bodies and organisations have become more frequent. They are primarily connected with the failure of the heads to comply with the requirements of the legislation on information and IT-based management. Cyber fraudsters use the absence of an information protection system, the use of outdated equipment, and software which is not supported by the manufacturer. Thus, they receive unauthorised access and disrupt the operation of the whole system, which can cause losses, including to enterprises.
According to Mr. Zhernosek the current forum is an expert and dialogue platform for sharing experience and discussing topical issues related to the launch and development of digital technologies, enabling to make new contacts and get acquainted with the achievements in each region. It also helps look deep into the problems, provide assistance and find common ground when choosing a path in the implementation of particular projects for a given region.
A business meeting in Mogilev completes a series of events held in regional centres. A similar forum will take place in Bobruisk on December 16th.
