US no longer has funds to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine
The funds of the US Government intended for direct budget support to Kiev have been exhausted – as stated by Erin McKee, the Assistant Administrator in the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia at USAID, RIA Novosti reports
Erin McKee noted that humanitarian aid to Ukraine may stop without additional financial injection, “At this time, there is no funding left for direct budget support. Without further appropriations, the Government of Ukraine would need to use emergency measures, such as printing money or not paying critical salaries, which could lead to hyperinflation and severely damage the war effort.”
The official recalled that, if the US Congress does not approve the allocation of additional funds for the needs of Kiev, then American partner organisations in Ukraine will be forced to reduce the number of recipients of humanitarian aid by 75 percent or even complete the implementation of such programmes.
