US increased spending on nuclear weapons by 18 percent in 2023

The United States increased spending on nuclear weapons at the highest rate among the nine world powers in 2023, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons

It is noted that, in 2023, all the nine powers increased spending on nuclear weapons, but the United States allocated most of all: its increase reached $51.5bn (or 18 percent), which was more than all the other nuclear states combined.

China was in second place in terms of spending on nuclear weapons ($11.9bn). Russia did not provide data, but the drafters of the report claim that it ranked third ($8.3bn).
