UNIDO technical co-operation projects in Belarus discussed in Vienna

Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Aleinik led the Belarusian delegation at a plenary session of the 19th session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) in Vienna – as informed by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry

In his speech, Mr. Aleinik stressed the importance of the organisation's effective activities and ongoing efforts aimed at sustainable and inclusive industrial development of the countries, including contribution to quicker recovery of industry after the pandemic on a more environmentally friendly and technological basis.

Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister welcomed the efforts of the organisation in the field of closed-cycle economics, ecology and energy, the use of digitalisation to accelerate the transition to more efficient models of industrial production, as well as the desire to take into account interests and needs of different categories of member states, especially middle-income countries, as fully as possible.

Mr. Aleinik congratulated Gerd Muller on his appointment as UNIDO Head and assured of Belarus' readiness to continue active interaction and co-operation in all areas of the organisation's work. After the session, the head of the Belarusian delegation met with the new UNIDO Director General to discuss the current and prospective projects of the organisation's technical co-operation in Belarus.
