Khodzhaev, Eismont delivered President’s best wishes to first newborn child of 2025

Gifts were traditionally delivered on behalf of President Lukashenko to Belarusian families where first babies of the new year were born. Their mothers got bouquets, gift vouchers for home appliances, and best wishes from the Head of State.

At one minute past midnight on January 1st, a baby girl was born in the Minsk maternity hospital No. 2. Her name is Mira; she is 49 centimetres tall and weights 3,170 grams. Healthcare Minister Aleksandr Khodzhaev delivered gifts from Aleksandr Lukashenko to the girl and her mother, Olga Zayats.

“We firmly believe this little girl will live in a happy, peaceful country. Good health to her and her parents!” he said.

Olga’s husband is guarding the Belarusian border. There’s nothing more important for President Lukashenko than peaceful, tranquil, and happy childhood of Belarusian children, pointed out his Press Secretary Natalya Eismont, “Your daughter’s name is symbolic [Mir – Peace]. She was born at a magical moment. Let her life be happy and the sky above her peaceful. We wish your family more kids in the future!”

Both the mother and the daughter also got presents from the Healthcare Ministry and the Minsk Executive Committee.

“That’s a memorable start of life!” said Ms. Zayats, impressed. “I hope it will stay like that going forward. I feel so very grateful to maternity hospital No.2 and all its staff for their friendly attitude. My pregnancy was easy.”

Mira is the first child in the family; she was born after the couple’s first attempt at IVF that is provided in Belarus free of charge. The 35 years old mother was overcome with emotions.

“It’s so great to know me and my husband are parents now! We couldn’t get pregnant for 8 years, so we decided to try the IVF, and we got it on our first try!” she explained.

Olga is an educational psychologist, while her husband Dmitry is a border guards Major. They live in Lida, but decided to go to Minsk for maternity care. They think maternity hospital No.2 is the best out there, so that was their choice. After giving birth, Olga spent some time in intensive care: a standard procedure after a caesarean section. Now she’s in a standard room. Both the mother and the daughter are feeling well.

Aleksandr Khodzhaev:

“Accessible, high quality healthcare encourages people to have more kids. Furthermore, it’s free of charge in Belarus, although there’s a paid option available for those who want it. Not only does Belarus offer high quality healthcare, families with children are entitled to impressive social benefits. Mothers get one of the longest maternity leaves in the entire world; family capital is provided for those who give birth to three or more children. Robust families are a priority for our government's policies.”
