Two tonnes of cocaine found off the coast of Sicily

Italian Financial Guard found a large shipment of cocaine weighing almost two tonnes, drifting in the sea to the east of Sicily, RIA Novosti reports

According to the source, the total cost of the ‘cargo’ would make at least 400m Euros on the drug market, and it has become one of the largest on a national scale.

The marine units of the Financial Guard ‘found numerous floating packages fastened with a network and equipped with a light signalling device’.

Based on the initial version, the cargo was left at sea by a drug traffickers' ship to then be delivered to land. In total, the operation made it possible to seize 1,600 bags of white powder packed in seventy larger containers.
