Following the results of the elections in Poland on October 15th, these three parties were through to the country's parliament.

"We are signing the text of a coalition pact, which is a collection of strong points of co-operation after receiving the opportunity from the President to create a government. Regardless of how long we have to wait for the President's decisions, we are ready to take responsibility for the future," Donald Tusk, the Head of the Civic Coalition, former Polish Prime Minister and ex-President of the European Council, said. According to him, an atmosphere of mutual trust prevailed at the negotiations of the coalition partners. “We have agreed to work for the welfare of all Poles in the coming four years," he added.

The Democratic Left Alliance leader, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, said that the signed agreement will allow Poland to become ‘a tolerant, open, responsible country with a strong place within the EU structures and a serious player in the international arena’. At the same time, he admitted that some provisions of the pact will still be finalised.
