The Taliban banned mining and circulation of cryptocurrencies in Afghanistan
The Central Bank of Afghanistan – which is controlled by the Taliban government – has banned mining and circulation of cryptocurrencies in the country, Bloomberg reports
According to the Head of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Herat Police Department, Syed Shah Sadaat, the country’s Central Bank ordered to ban all exchangers, individuals and businesses from trading in fraudulent digital currencies – such as bitcoin.
Since the ban has been in effect, 13 people were arrested, but most of them were later released on bail.
