Thailand considering joining BRICS at October summit

Thailand hopes to become a member of the BRICS group of countries at the next summit of the association, to held in Russia in October – as noted by a representative of the Thai Foreign Ministry, Reuters reports

The representative of the Foreign Ministry of Thailand, Nikorndej Balankura, said that the Southeast Asian country had submitted an official request to join the BRICS.

“We expect to receive positive feedback and be accepted into the BRICS at the next summit of the association to take place in Russia,” he said.
