Denmark confirmed readiness for dialogue with Trump on Arctic territories
The Danish government has confirmed its readiness for dialogue with the new US administration on Arctic territories – as stated by Danish Foreign Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen, TASS reports
"Americans have some concerns about the security situation in the Arctic, which is shared by the Danish side," he said. "Therefore, Denmark, in close co-operation with Greenland, is ready to continue negotiations with US President-elect Donald Trump in order to ensure the legitimate interests of the American side," the Danish Foreign Minister added.
Earlier, Donald Trump said that Greenland should become part of the United States to protect itself from Chinese and Russian threats. Back in 2019, during his first term as President, he said that the United States could buy Greenland, which is part of Denmark and has broad autonomy rights.
