Sweden, US to jointly develop 6G communication technologies

Sweden and the United States have signed a joint statement on co-operation in the development of the 6G technologies, TASS reports

A press release from the Swedish government office cites the words of Deputy Foreign Minister Jan Knutsson, who signed a joint statement with the United States, “Sweden and the United States demonstrate a clear desire for expanded co-operation with like-minded international partners in order to ensure the openness, security, reliability, inclusivity, sustainability of 6G technologies and their compliance with democratic values. We will move the development forward together. I look forward to further strengthening the Swedish-American partnership in the field of 6G.”

He added that 6G technologies are aimed at significantly increasing the speed of communication and the amount of data transmitted, while improving security.

The statement by Sweden and the US is an addition to the document on the principles of the development of 6G, which was signed by the two countries earlier in 2024 together with eight other states.
