Orlovsky on Belarus’ dialogue with Western partners: it is not present now, but the situation should change

There is no dialogue between the customs authorities of Belarus and neighbouring Western countries due to the political order of the leadership of these states – as noted by the Chairman of Belarus’ State Customs Committee, Vladimir Orlovsky, following the results of his today’s report to President Aleksandr Lukashenko

Mr. Orlovsky shared his opinion on why there is no dialogue with customs officers of neighbouring countries, “This is due to a political order placed by the leadership of the EU countries. There are simply no other reasons, neither economic nor human. Our border guards and customs officers have always had contact with their colleagues from neighbouring countries at the border, but there is practically no such contact at present. There is no dialogue at the leadership level.”

The Chairman of the State Customs Committee added that Belarus maintained excellent contact with most countries at the June session of the World Customs Organisation, “There was communication and signing of documents. Plans for the future were also outlined. Unfortunately, there is practically no contact with the EU countries, unfriendly countries, but I believe this should change.”
