Situation on Azerbaijan-Armenia border discussed at CSTO Council’s emergency meeting

The Permanent Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation has held an emergency meeting today to consider proposals on the possible use of the organisation's mechanisms to settle the conflict on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border – as informed by the CSTO press secretary Vladimir Zainetdinov, TASS reports

Mr. Zainetdinov said the meeting had been attended by the leadership of the CSTO Secretariat and the Chief of the Joint Staff, Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov.

"The Council members expressed extreme concern about the current situation and considered proposals regarding the possible use of the CSTO mechanisms to resolve the situation," the CSTO press service reported.

The Permanent Representative of Armenia, Viktor Biyagov chaired the meeting. He revealed the details of the development of the situation in certain areas of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan and informed his colleagues on an appeal of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to the CSTO Collective Security Council members in this regard.
